The United Nations Convention on Road Traffic 1949 Article 9(1) states "All vehicular traffic proceeding in the same direction on any road shall keep to the same side of the road, which shall be uniform in each country
for all roads. Domestic regulations concerning one-way traffic shall not be affected." Despite the obvious advantages of consistency, many countries have a few isolated exceptions where traffic drives on the "wrong" side of the road for that country. Here are a few that have been reported.
R:Drive on the right-hand side of the road (and mostly the driver sits on the left side of the car).
L:Drive on the left-hand side of the road (and mostly the driver sits on the right side of the car).
